Welcome to National Poetry Month.
To start off the festivities, here is a poem by Molly Peacock from her wonderful book, ORIGINAL LOVE.

Little Miracle

No use getting hysterical.
The important part is: we're here.
Our lives are a little miracle.

My hummingbird-hearted schedule
beats its shiny frenzy, day into year.
No use getting hysterical--

it's always like that. The oracle
a human voice could be is shrunk by fear.
Our lives are a little miracle.

--we must remind ourselves--whimsical,
and lyrical, large and slow and clear.
(So no use in getting hysterical!)

All words other than I love you are clerical,
dispensable, and replaceable, my dear.
Our inner lives are a miracle.

They beat their essence in the coracle
our ribs provide, the watertight boat we steer
through others' acid, hysterical
demands. Ours is the miracle: we're here.

How did I forget about those UFOs?
As Bess would say or write, lawsee!
Purlewe was here this past Monday night - a wonderful happening for us - & I was looking for some items to show her that I tho't might be stuck in the bottom of a knitting bag. They were not there but what I found instead were a couple of UFOs. Damn, how had I forgotten about them?
Simple, I became Homer Simpson for a while vs. being Lisa Simpson, a role model to emulate.
There is a shell I began, using the Anne Norling pattern, Bulky Knit Top, & Noro Fuji yarn that was given to me by the generous, stash-momma herself: Shelia.
There is also a scarf I started w/a beautiful, muted hand dyed yarn. It is in shades of grey and a pale butter-yellow color.
This yarn was purchased at the only Stitches East I ever attended & one of the two times that I have seen Laura in person. (What year was that, Laura? Maybe three or four years ago?) For you historians of the Stitches conventions, this was the last one held in King of Prussia, PA. In addition to meeting Laura & her sweet husband, I did just a bit of shopping & wandering in the market place. It was all so overwhelming to me that I purchased just a bit of yarn - some Green Mountain yarns & this hand dyed wool & cotton blend (50% merino & 50% cotton). There is no company name on the label so I have no way to link you to anyone.
Here's to our UFOs: may they get to the finishing line soon.

Record breaking temps
Here in Philly, we broke a record - it hit 76 degrees today - good grief, Charlie Brown. It is March 10th - what is going on? As that old margarine commercial said, it's not nice to fool Mother Nature.
The day lilies are up, the tulips are up, crocuses abound, the iris leaves are getting greener by the second. What's wrong w/this picture? Where's Waldo?
Knitting progress - I am close to finishing the 2nd skein of yarn for the Feather & Fan scarf. Then, ta da, it's the 3rd & final skein of yarn. Wa hoo.
This is especially timely as this coming week, I start a Knit-along at my fav LYS, the Tangled Web. The Knit-along will be for the pattern by Two Old Bags, the Double Handle Project Bag. I will be using Cascade 220 from the stash.
Yes, I am already working on a bag which will be felted. And yes, I know, my UFO list continues to grow like the day lilies & the iris leaves - too quickly & too soon.
However ... the Knit-alongs happen when they happen & I am enough of a group knitter to love them: I like to see the yarn people use & the I am able to see what they achieve. Everyone in the room has the goal to make this bag. It's enlightening to me to see how we do & it's in a good way too.
Is that the quilter in me? The one who has taken classes & been a part of a quilt group for many years? I don't know - maybe it's the social part of me.
Happy week-end to you. Hope you have fun w/ those you love or like & that your knitting or spinning progress is satisfying.

Friends who inspire
How lucky are we when we have friends who inspire us? Damn lucky I say to you.
As a Virgo, I know the joy of being a good friend to my pals. As someone who has lovely friends, I relish their companionship. They are high spirited, filled w/ life, smart, creative, sweet, funny, good people.
These friends may live close by or far away. I might see them w/ great regularity or only once or twice a year. I may talk w/ them by email or by phone.
However we connect, it's joyous. And I depend on this connection. And I treasure it.
Life is better when close friends are by one's side. Many thanks & much XOXO to you all.
