She's right when she says ...
Knitting is humbling. Purlewe wrote that in a current (as of today) post. She knits beautifully - ditto her spinning. You'll understand when you read this post.
Here's how I find her comment on track for me: my plan for this past Thursday evening felt rather simple: attend fiber night at her home ^ .. ^ Pretty easy, right? Ahhh.
Work tweaked my schedule in a big way: about 24 packages from UPS - all big ones too! Yes, that's more than usual - I do work in retail, it's after the holidays & inventory, etc. & I'm ordering a fair amount of stuff again. We also rec'd an order from our biggest supplier - this one arrives by a semi-truck.
My colleague was working one company's stuff (6 boxes) & I tho't I'd tackle one company before I left - only 3 big boxes. On one hand, it's good I did as there was an error that affected us in a big way. (Our great order person made a small data entry error that gave us 8 cases of a different product than what I had ordered.) I ended working it out w/ the company via a manager, making adjustments, re-doing what we have on a deep discount sale & spending more time than I planned.
By the time I was done, I was pooped, too tired to drive anywhere but home. When I got here, I fed Natalie & Jeremy, fixed nachos, had a glass of red wine & fell asleep during the end of "Grey's Anatomy" - & you wonder how I feel humbled?
Well, I had such plans for my knitting - Anj would be continuing to help me w/ sock #1 (sock on 2 circs) of my Xmas gift for SJ as I am almost to the heel flap.
The good news? These socks were for the Xmas that just passed - I'm already late w/ them ^ .. ^

Yep, this is a belated wish & it is one that is made w/ lots of good feelings.
How was your holiday season? (Mine was fabulous!) Did you make new traditions? (Yes, we did!) Did you finish your holiday gifts? (Nope.) Are you knitting fabulous new projects? (Not yet.) Competing UFOs? (I always seem to be doing that, don't I?)
While I have yet to do a tradition inspired by Bess many years ago, I am thinking about it. She wrote of her own New Year's lists - what did I do in the past year that I am proud of, what do I want to do in the new year, what are my goals. I took her idea, ran w/ it & have done it every year.
It's been illuminating for me to revisit a prior year & my goals for that period of time as I set my intentions for the months to come. While those writings are always revealing, tho'tful & "in the moment," some of them have moved me to tears as my moods came through w/ great velocity. Many of them moved me to feel pride, encouragement & inspiration for the future. My areas have included knitting & spinning, friends, relationships, health, work, my home.
Now that my computer has been behaving itself (knock wood that it continues ^ .. ^ ) & the wireless is working again, in 2008 I hope to ...

** learn how to use my digital camera so I can post photos along w/ text. Am hoping to see if the most wonderful Anj &/or Sue can help me w/ this & or SJ & SJ's Daughter, M.
** blog about my knitting & spinning as I hope there is more knitting & spinning!!
