XMAS IS HOW MANY DAYS AWAY? YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT?
Today I placed an order w/ a sales rep & he spoke of the number of days until Xmas. Oy veh.
A retailer's work is never done & this time of year, it truly feels that way. As Purlewe would say, I am so behind, I can see myself. I am hoping that the hours I put in are making a big difference, that some work each day gets me closer to the final goal, that I can bring home the bacon for my job & department. I have the most exquisite support from SJ & some colleagues. My friends understand, for the most part, & know that I'll have more breathing room at the end of the month. It's amazing that this is my 2nd holiday season in this job - I am blown away by that.
And like a good retailer, I am already thinking of 2008. How many days until that Xmas?
Last night's Fiber Nite was wonderful. Purlewe & Sue & pals throw a grand b'day party (head over to Purlewe & wish her a happy b'day, won't you?). I saw a bunch of folks, met a bunch of new people, saw some beautiful faces that I get to see on occasion (hey, El ^ .. ^ )& ate/drank excellent cheese, chocolate & red wine. Purlewe gave me more pointers w/ a sock (2 circs, top down) & I hope to wail on it for the next few weeks.
Am thinking of my goals & dreams for 2008 - my hopes for my life, my knitting & spinning, my heart, my job - there's a mental list already started.
And for now, I need to concentrate on this day, this hour, the orders to arrive & the ones to place. How many days 'till Xmas?

T'giving Friday
This was a spectacular T'giving - lots of time w/ SJ, lots of cooking time w/ said SJ who is an excellent cook, a meal w/SJ & kids & friends, time spent discussing said meal/gathering.
The past week & a half (truth be told, since the most excellent KR Retreat!) I have been workingworkingworking. Having been behind from before I went to the Retreat, I have needed many added hours at work to try to catch up, to maintain & to work for the busy holiday schedule I'll have post-T'giving. It's a beautiful thing to have good support for what I do & lucky me, I have that.
The KR Retreat was so awesome. That's not a word I often use - in this case, it totally fits. Clara did an over-the-top-wonderful job. She works many many hours & uses lots of her creative energy & strength to put together one of the fav week-ends of any year. I was glad to be one of the "I've attended every one of the six Retreats" attendees. We had 90 people there - I feel like Arlo Gutherie at Woodstock when he said "The New York Throughway's closed, man!" as 90 people is quite the group. The facility was good, the food excellent, the spaces accommodating, the knitters were terrific, seeing my Retreat pals was priceless. I had most excellent roomies in Anj, Beth & Amy. My time spent hanging w/ them, Clara, Shelia, Jen, Jane, Leslie, Vivian, Kathleen, Dawn & Rho among others was joyous. I met new folks whom I hope to see at future gatherings. Loved my class w/ Shelia & w/ Pam Allen. Anj was my co-pilot & fellow driver to & from Seven Hills Inn. She is a pleasure, a superb & creative knitter & spinner who inspires me, someone whom I am glad to have as a friend.
Since my return from MA, I have done some knitting, not as much as I want to or need to & yet, I have done some. I am committed to have a more productive, creative knitting year in 2008 & to attend more of Anj & Sue's Fiber Nite meetings. These folks rock w/ what they knit & how they motivate each other. I need that & more importantly, I want that!
