Happy T'giving to you & yours.
Between being away at the 5th annual Knitter's Review Retreat (a fabulous time was had by all!!!) & the long work days, I am flat out tuckered & beat at the end of each day.
Thus I am ready to put my feet up by the time I get home from my 9 to 10+ hour work day & sitting here at the computer desk is more than I can handle most nights. The good news on the computer front is that I now have a laptop & when I learn how to use it & A has the house fixed up for wireless computer time, I can head to the couch downstairs, prop my feet up & have my computer w/me. Hopefully I can be a more diligent email-er & blogger at that point.
The desktop has been somewhat iffy - the defective modem has been replaced, thanks to A & his battle w/ Verizon, but it still can be chancy at times.
Still doing some selective pet sitting - there were some clients that were so hard to let go - I adore both the humans & kitties. And the extra money is still needed - needed to replace this computer & I traded my car in recently. Natalie has been having some health challenges so we have been seeing her vet more often. And it is just plain nice, although it means long work days, to feel on more of a sound financial footing, ya know?
My job is going well - retail work this time of year is hectic to say the least & this is job is no exception. This T'giving was my 1st T'giving day off since 1989 or 1990, the years that my pet sitting clients began traveling. I am thrilled to be off. Headed to the home of a close friend for dinner w/her & her family - she is a friend from my volunteer gig at the local Library as well as being a member of my knitting group. Other than that, it was a quiet day. It was chilly & raining off & on, a day w/gray skies. A perfect day to be quiet, knit, have that extra cuppa, stay in my jammies, a good day to "just be" - it feels good to feel good.

A post from early November ...
When I was having computer & blogger problems, a post was caught in the time warp between when things worked & when they did not work. Here it is & please know that I hope to write a current one really soon ^..^

A week from today, I'll be "Retreating" at ...
the Knitter's Review Retreat. Hip hip hurrah.
As I have mentioned in posts over the last few weeks, I love the autumn. Two more reasons to love this time of year are the NY Sheep & Wool Festival (for my non-knitting pals, it is also just plain called Rhinebeck) & the Knitter's Review Retreat.
Rhinebeck was a blast - Jen & Spirit Trail Fiberworks did very well - she wowed them as per her usual. To see her & Shelia & work w/them continues to be a joy & honor. This year we had an added bonus: Purlewe. A blue ribbon to her & Sue. Purlewe helped w/ some of the set-up & worked at the booth plus they helped w/the take-down. You can visit P's blog for more of a report. She was such an assist, has so much knitting & spinning knowledge & I loved the extra bits of time w/her. A good time was had by all.
The 2006 Retreat is the 5th annual one & my 5th one too. Looking forward to being w/ my good KR pals - you know who you are!
Life otherwise for me has been work filled: the retail world prepares for the December holidays in the few months that precede it & we are no exception. The 1st holiday order was placed last June - yes, your eyes are working properly - June. The 2007 calendars had been ordered by late last winter. Oy. I expect a few more weeks of this schedule so I am prepared for more work & less "me" time, am counting on good coffee in the AM to propel me through my day & am counting on going to bed early to catch up on sleep.
On the "me" front, I got my new, beautiful Robin's Spinning Wheel at Rhinebeck. It's gorgeous & lovely & I am happy to have it. Since returning from Rhinebeck, I have not spun on it & hope that this week-end, I have time for it.
Knitting wise, there has been little progress on anything. How I grimace as I write this. I try to be realistic & kind to myself when these periods of big work arise - as they do in ANY job - so that I avoid pummeling myself about how little I have been accomplishing w/ all my projects.
Some of my projects are in the home stretch & that excites me:
** A V-neck cardigan is almost done.
** My two felted bags are 1) at the top & 2) at the handles.
** One sock of a pair is done.
** The fir cone lace scarf is over 1/2 done.
This time period of my long hours will begin to abate & I will be patient w/myself until then.
