OK, so it is only September 1 so I didn't miss it by much. I have been trying to have one post a month & have done pretty well.
I just had a great opportunity for a wonderful life lesson in knitting. Our excellent & awesome pal, Dave H., is a peach of a fellow, a friend whom I inherited via my relationship with Sweet J. He is a BIG gaming & sci-fi fan & a biggie fan of "Firefly." I made an offer to knit him a Jayne hat & the length of time that has gone by is cringe-worthy. (steeling myself for the typing of the date.) This was right about now in 2009. Crikey.
Our pals, Purlewe & her wife Sue advised me early on re the colors I chose so that was done. And for about 4 years, so was much of the hat. I began to work toward completion & all except for the pom-pom, it is done. We saw him at Folk Song Week-end this past week-end, he tried it on & it fit, he was thrilled & there was not a single "Jeez, what took you so long!" uttered by anyone but me! He was thrilled to pieces & will be even more after I learn how to knit the pom-pom, put it on the hat & mail it to him. (Somehow I tho't I could skate through my knitting life without making one but nooooo, that is not to be. Dave is worth it!)
My take-aways from this are
++ complete gifts sooner.
++ keep picking people like Dave who are joyful & terrific & sweet.
++ while making lists, think about priorities & keep your friends & loved ones right at the top!
++ as a giver of this hat, I feel like I am receiving the gifts & that is a beautiful thing.

May 10th already? Holy cow.
Lots of things are going on & I wonder if that is why I think "May 10th already?" or if time is flying by or both.
My time at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival was a delight & seeing some of my very best peeps was sweet, thrilling & joyful. How do I adore these folks? Let me count the ways. I felt validation, love, respect, care & encouragement. Thank you to you all.
Knitting ADD seems to be upon me. I have some great projects on the needles & while those should satisfy me, somehow I long for more: a sweater, another cowl, an easy scarf or hat. Do you get in that space? Perhaps I am partially there as I have missed the last 3 knit nites at Hidden River Yarn & have missed the creativity & energy vibes I get there. Last Thursday a colleague went home ill & there was no one to fill in for her so I stayed for a few extra hours. Two weeks ago my work day sucked & I was not about to inflict that pain on them (I did that a week before & Lisa was a sweet gem to me) so I came home.
If you have an extra good tho't, send it my way please - a big change will happen in the next 60 days or so & some extra luck would be appreciated.

Pardon me, fellow knitters ...
for it has been a while since I posted. Lotta stuff has happened including our beloved Knitter's Review Retreat & the NY Sheep & Wool Festival. Good times, good times.
The Retreat was even more awesome than usual if you can believe that - believe it, it's true. We could have had snafus out the wazoo & we didn't - amazing. I am always jones-ed by the wonderful knitters I am privileged to know & call pals. I met new friends this year & I renewed long time friendships. How excellent it is to come to a place one time a year, see folks I have not seen for a year & hunker down like it was yesterday for fabulous conversations, sharing & affection. I am honored to be in this group.
My knitting ADD has been balanced by the "I am too honkin' tired to pick up any of my project bags & there are quite a few of them. Here are some of my WIPs:
++ a sock for me
++ a sock for Sweet J (the 2nd one & I am at the heel!)
++ a sweater of Gatsby - still on the fence re frogging
++ a xmas gift scarf that is almost done!
++ a scarf for a colleague
++ a headband gift
++ a Jayne hat for our friend, Dave
To be started:
++ a shawl for me
++ a Color Affection shawl for me
++ a sweater for me
++ a scarf for me
++ a hat for me
It's a bit of an odd thing to see so many things for myself on this list. When I quilted, I gave away all I made. It's nice to have a balance.
Happy belated T'giving to you & your loved ones.

Happy September ...
to all of us. While some planners for the academic year begin in June, I like ones that start on September 1. I have come to see it, think of it, feel it as the start of a new year. Along with Bess of the blog "Like The Queen," I like September. It's the month of our birthdays ^ .. ^
Our Philly summer has been, like many other cities, hot as blazes. We have not been hit w/Issac nor the rains it carried w/it. We're grateful. It's been a dry-ish summer & we are smitten w/our six rain barrels (2 per downspout drain). They kept the new tree & bushes happy - the dogwood, butterfly bush, forsythia, 2 zebra grass plantings - along w/ the 2 fig trees, honey locust, perennial garden.
Recently I finished a garter stitch scarf, 4" wide & 7 /12 feet long, for a Journey's End friend of our family. She is heading off for her freshman year of college & I told her she could pick the length of it. She is a sweet, smart, creative, very pretty young woman - the kind that gives you faith in young people. Her mom has done such a wonderful job of parenting her. This was my 5th scarf for our JE pals. It's great fun to knit scarves & see the delight folks have for them.
At our week of Family Camp at Journey's End, I had the most unusual experience: I mentored 2 relatively new knitters. It's not like I put the moon in the sky for them as knitters - they tho't I was cool because I fixed their mistakes, gave some ideas, frogged a few rows a few times & got them back on track, encouraged them. I felt like I got to pass on what others have done for me - you know who you are.

Happy May 31st!
Summer is just about here & before we are in the throes of it, I wanted to say a happy Memorial Day week-end & summer to you.
We are busy w/ the yard, planting trees (a honey locust & 2 fig tress - no, neither of us are Italian ^ .. ^ We have perennials & tomatoes & bulbs & azaleas & clethra (sp.?) & a shrub whose name escapes me at the moment). We have a clothesline apparatus that SJ bought & installed w/ the help of our good pal, Bob. We're working
on a yard sale that will piggyback on a large tag sale that happens around the corner on 6.5. While we are both working a ton, SJ is working more than me.
On the knitting horizon, I have a few scarves on the needles plus a couple of shawls, a sock, a sweater. My good pal, RC, will be helping me to have better coordination & thus a smoother style w/ DPNs. Cannot wait for that - I have felt fairly uncoordinated & awkward w/ them & I am sure she will help a lot.
Stay safe out there & hope you are all doing well.

We're busy - December is a big month for my job & I feel behind because I am behind. No knitting to speak of - I need to find more ways to work it into my everyday routines. I am jones-ing to work on my KR Retreat New Beginnings Project sweater - have the swatch done & blocked! I will be using some lovely Briar Rose yarn that is yummy to the max.
We had a delightful holiday potluck last evening & folks were happy to be there, brought wonderful food & drink, ate lots of food & had some drink. Lotsa of beautiful compliments about the house which we loved hearing, truth to tell. "Looks like you're moved in" more than one person said. "D'oh" said SJ. "Don't you think we own books & artwork? Where are they? In the garage & closets & our friend C's 3rd floor guest room (my artwork from the old house, that is)." Some of the neighbors came: SJ, in a brilliant & tho't move, placed invitations in a number of mailboxes - the folks across the street, the folks on both sides of us. We loved the turnout & were sorry to miss the folks who could not be there. So many holiday events were happening. M was away in NC at a soccer tournament. M was a fabulous hostess, asking folks to sign the guest book & taking coats to M's room.
We cleaned like crazy before the party & painted 2 of the walls of the family room. Since one wall is paneling w/ a door & shelving areas, we have only one more wall to paint in that room. Because Bob the painter did most of the walls in most of the rooms, we have only the living & dining room area to do & then it's the woodwork in the hallway, the living room/dining room area & the family room. We're in the home stretch. There are many, many boxes still left to be culled & items will be ready to be put away. The two pallets we began for future yard sale items are getting more crowded as we look toward selling the multiples we have - you know what that is like, the couple of colanders, glasses & mugs, bowls, etc.
Recently we met w/ a local landscape designer/gardener who will be assisting us w/ a plan to turn our yard into a wonderful, blooming, inviting-to-the-birds-&-butterflies yard. The seven trees we have in the the front, side & back yards need care & we have a terrific arborist on board to do that work. He trimmed trees at my old homestead & he does excellent work. We have the insultation to place in the attic - it's the type that comes in a big roll & it will go in between the rafters. As Jean says, this will be our coldest winter we'll ever have at the house as we make it more resisiatnt to the cold air & wind. What we are doing will also help us in the summer as there is central AC too. The HVAC guy was there last week to tune up the furnace. He calibrated the thermostat which was low by, on average, 6 degrees: we had been cold, chilly in fact, & the two thermometers we checked it against were coming up w/ low readings. The duct cleaning company comes this Thursday to clean out all the duct work - a forced air furnace can be such fun.
SJ & I have both been pushing ourselves at work & at home. I think everyone does when they move! Need a chiropractor adjustment in the worst way. Had a rolfing session a few weeks ago & also saw the accupuncturist who did some trigger point work in the region of the cervical neck & upper shoulders. The care helped a lot. I do need more of both & will see them again in a couple of weeks.
It's nice to have the moves behind us - could you hear my exhale?

There's another new kid on the blog block & she is
MOMOGUS KNITS.
We love Diana - just be around her for a nano-second & see if you can resist! She is a talented designer, teacher, knitter. When I visit the Tangled Web, my fav LYS, she has the ability to help me w/ a knitting problem & somehow I feel smarter when I leave. Would love to have that ability!
Her patterns are well written, have great directions, are reasonably priced, are fun to knit & make me want to knit more. Check her out!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!!!
Craziness at the holidays? What craziness? Re said nuttiness, at least I am not working 60 hour work weeks this year ^ .. ^ Am closer to 50 to 55 & am OK w/ that. That's a beautiful thing.
To those of you who will be flying & driving over the holidays, let's be careful out there. Re the road emergencies & weather, the weather folks seem to hype what we might get here in Philly & it is so bogus. Yes, we will have a worse winter than last year - how could we not when we had only 6" of snow last winter?!
Re packages, cards & presents, have done only 1 card & that was to the folks. (Will be doing a January trip to see them - keep your good tho'ts working toward that one - a visit to the parental units is not something I look forward to at all!) Am doing almost no present buying or giving. There's just a bit that SJ & I are doing w/ each other & we'll do smallish stuff for M & M. We have bought modest things for SJ's brother, sister & their families. Those boxes have not been mailed yet. Oh well, they will get there, just late ^ .. ^ Perhaps next year things will be on time or, gasp, early.
Re the house, I had decided to take some time away from working to ready it for sale. It's been a wise move as I have worked some long days & been on my feet far longer than I usually am. Oh, a good foot massage would be so fine right about now! I will get back to the house projects soon: putting the spare bedroom back together & rearranging it - it is really just a "study" as I have it - & finishing off cleaning out & straightening up of the basement. Then I will have a house inspector here to do a pre-inspection, meet w/ the Realtor & clean the house as well as it can be cleaned. Then it's up for sale!
For my job, it feels good to be in the last period of extreme work effort for 2008. Sales are modest, for this time of year, in the areas that are usually pretty strong. Folks are not spending lots & luckily I had counted on that. Since the late summer/early fall, I had been conservative w/ what I have purchased & had made my purchasing decisions after a process that included lots of tho't about the store w/ a mind toward a plan to have practical items, fairly priced items & some one of a kind items (jewelry which we have on consignment & only pay for what we sell plus some clothing that we either have on consignment or have from a company that allows us to return what we don't sell). We had an early-mid November sale w/ many items that we picked from our housewares that, over the last few months, had turned into slow sellers. We had pretty candles, a wide array of calenders, cool toys & puzzles, pretty holiday cards, the ever popular Baggallini line, neat cooking & baking items. We'll just see what happens when the holiday season is over. This is my 3rd holiday for this job & I learned a lot about more about the holidays which is a beautiful thing. There's always more to learn in any job, I think. My colleagues in my department have worked hard & done beautiful displays. I am pleased w/ what they have done & am appreciative for their fine work.
To you all who are near & far, I wish you a joyful holiday - may folks treat each other w/ tenderness, generosity & good humor - may your travels be safe - may 2009 be kind & loving for you. Thanks for dropping by, good to have you here.

The Divine One did a TAG on her blog ...
MomoGus Knits and tagged her readers. She is a cool writer & photographer, is funny & tho'tful, is a fabulous knitter, loves her family & baseball & designs excllent patterns!
Here is her Tag ...
1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
10 years ago I was running my own pet sitting company. I was seeing a majority of cats but had not yet suffered a knee injury and still walked dogs. A & I were five years into living where I live now.
2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order)?
1. Continue to work on the house to de-stash and downsize
2. Deposit some money into the checking account
3. Get more sleep!!!
4. Knit
5. Catch up on email correspondence
3) Snacks I enjoy:
1. Rice crackers
2. Cheese
3. Fruit
4. Popcorn
5. A spoonful of peanut butter
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
1. Make myself a big bowl of popcorn and decide what to do
2. Pay off the debts for my family members and close friends
3. Donate to a variety of charitable causes and groups - animal care facilities, NPR, knitting organizations, farm groups
4. Buy a better couch
5. Take a vacation with SJ & family
6. Put money into college funds for M & M
5) Places I’ve lived:
Portsmouth, OH; Athens, OH; North Canton, OH; Gloucester City, NJ; Haddon Heights, NJ; Philadelphia, PA
And so, dear reader, I tag you - please tell me about you.

During a conversation earlier today ...
w/ wonderful, sweet Anj, we discussed some of the folks we know who currently are dealing w/ lots of rough & tumble life events. Bet you know some folks too who are going through times that test the sturdiness of their souls. Hearts that are broken, tough job & economic events, recovery from health challenges.
Whew.
We've all had times like these - what a good time it is to check in w/ friends who are needing a call or a note or an email.
Thanks, Anj, for the reminder.

She's right when she says ...
Knitting is humbling. Purlewe wrote that in a current (as of today) post. She knits beautifully - ditto her spinning. You'll understand when you read this post.
Here's how I find her comment on track for me: my plan for this past Thursday evening felt rather simple: attend fiber night at her home ^ .. ^ Pretty easy, right? Ahhh.
Work tweaked my schedule in a big way: about 24 packages from UPS - all big ones too! Yes, that's more than usual - I do work in retail, it's after the holidays & inventory, etc. & I'm ordering a fair amount of stuff again. We also rec'd an order from our biggest supplier - this one arrives by a semi-truck.
My colleague was working one company's stuff (6 boxes) & I tho't I'd tackle one company before I left - only 3 big boxes. On one hand, it's good I did as there was an error that affected us in a big way. (Our great order person made a small data entry error that gave us 8 cases of a different product than what I had ordered.) I ended working it out w/ the company via a manager, making adjustments, re-doing what we have on a deep discount sale & spending more time than I planned.
By the time I was done, I was pooped, too tired to drive anywhere but home. When I got here, I fed Natalie & Jeremy, fixed nachos, had a glass of red wine & fell asleep during the end of "Grey's Anatomy" - & you wonder how I feel humbled?
Well, I had such plans for my knitting - Anj would be continuing to help me w/ sock #1 (sock on 2 circs) of my Xmas gift for SJ as I am almost to the heel flap.
The good news? These socks were for the Xmas that just passed - I'm already late w/ them ^ .. ^

XMAS IS HOW MANY DAYS AWAY? YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT?
Today I placed an order w/ a sales rep & he spoke of the number of days until Xmas. Oy veh.
A retailer's work is never done & this time of year, it truly feels that way. As Purlewe would say, I am so behind, I can see myself. I am hoping that the hours I put in are making a big difference, that some work each day gets me closer to the final goal, that I can bring home the bacon for my job & department. I have the most exquisite support from SJ & some colleagues. My friends understand, for the most part, & know that I'll have more breathing room at the end of the month. It's amazing that this is my 2nd holiday season in this job - I am blown away by that.
And like a good retailer, I am already thinking of 2008. How many days until that Xmas?
Last night's Fiber Nite was wonderful. Purlewe & Sue & pals throw a grand b'day party (head over to Purlewe & wish her a happy b'day, won't you?). I saw a bunch of folks, met a bunch of new people, saw some beautiful faces that I get to see on occasion (hey, El ^ .. ^ )& ate/drank excellent cheese, chocolate & red wine. Purlewe gave me more pointers w/ a sock (2 circs, top down) & I hope to wail on it for the next few weeks.
Am thinking of my goals & dreams for 2008 - my hopes for my life, my knitting & spinning, my heart, my job - there's a mental list already started.
And for now, I need to concentrate on this day, this hour, the orders to arrive & the ones to place. How many days 'till Xmas?

T'giving Friday
This was a spectacular T'giving - lots of time w/ SJ, lots of cooking time w/ said SJ who is an excellent cook, a meal w/SJ & kids & friends, time spent discussing said meal/gathering.
The past week & a half (truth be told, since the most excellent KR Retreat!) I have been workingworkingworking. Having been behind from before I went to the Retreat, I have needed many added hours at work to try to catch up, to maintain & to work for the busy holiday schedule I'll have post-T'giving. It's a beautiful thing to have good support for what I do & lucky me, I have that.
The KR Retreat was so awesome. That's not a word I often use - in this case, it totally fits. Clara did an over-the-top-wonderful job. She works many many hours & uses lots of her creative energy & strength to put together one of the fav week-ends of any year. I was glad to be one of the "I've attended every one of the six Retreats" attendees. We had 90 people there - I feel like Arlo Gutherie at Woodstock when he said "The New York Throughway's closed, man!" as 90 people is quite the group. The facility was good, the food excellent, the spaces accommodating, the knitters were terrific, seeing my Retreat pals was priceless. I had most excellent roomies in Anj, Beth & Amy. My time spent hanging w/ them, Clara, Shelia, Jen, Jane, Leslie, Vivian, Kathleen, Dawn & Rho among others was joyous. I met new folks whom I hope to see at future gatherings. Loved my class w/ Shelia & w/ Pam Allen. Anj was my co-pilot & fellow driver to & from Seven Hills Inn. She is a pleasure, a superb & creative knitter & spinner who inspires me, someone whom I am glad to have as a friend.
Since my return from MA, I have done some knitting, not as much as I want to or need to & yet, I have done some. I am committed to have a more productive, creative knitting year in 2008 & to attend more of Anj & Sue's Fiber Nite meetings. These folks rock w/ what they knit & how they motivate each other. I need that & more importantly, I want that!

Since we last chatted,
I have written, in my head, a few blog posts. If you wonder what happened to them since the last one which was written over a month ago, here's the answer: they never made it to the computer screen ^ .. ^
Some absolutely wonderful things have gone on:
~~~ SJ & I spent two days at the Jersey shore. A former kitty sitting client has a condo there - on the street that borders the beach in Cape May, NJ - & she gave it to us for a couple of days/nights & for free too. What a terrific time we had - we walked on the beach at night & early in the AM, flew kites (my 1st attempt at flying a kite!!), went for walks in Cape May, drove around the area, went to the bird sanctuary w/ binoculars in hand & watched hawks & eagles, had a love-filled time. It's so terrific to have time away.
~~ I sprained my left ankle when I took a small tumble - Fiona & Annabelle's cat carriers which were in my hands at the time, braced me (poor kitties) & my ankle, while still a bit sore, is much better. We love our chiropractor - Ted is the best.
~~ The New York Sheep & Wool Festival was a blast. Spirit Trail Fiberworks was one of the destination booths, IMHO, & Jennifer's yarns & fibers were wonderous as they always are. Lucky me, I spent time w/ Jennifer, the talented Shelia & our favorite knitting book author, Clara Parkes. If you don't have a copy of Clara's book yet, THE KNITTER'S BOOK OF YARN, run & don't walk to get your copy. It's extraordinary. Shelia has patterns in the book. Jen's yarns are featured too. At Rhinebeck I saw some of my very fav folks - Anj (who had an important part in the book), Amy Boogie (mucho & excellent patterns in the book), Jane (who has designed patterns for KR & for Jennifer), Vi plus other knitting/spinning pals.
~~ Work is busy as per usual. My smart, supportive pal, T, recently said that I often speak of the time when "work will quiet down" - she's spot on: there's always lots to do, there always will be, I can monitor how I work & how I work, the extremely long hours can exhaust me & make the next few days less productive. Thanks, my friend.
~~ I am reviewing all my yarn & fibers plus knitting needles in anticipation of the Knitter's Review Retreat. The swap table allows us to pass on what we longer want or feel we would use & we can take what we want & feel we will use. Books & 'zines are also welcome. Ditto gadgets & knitting tools. Shelia will be traveling to Africa as part of a group & will be teaching knitting. She's in need of needles for the trip & I will see how many duplicates I have. A couple of years ago I gave my extras to Toby so I may have very few to donate to Shelia.
~~ We have two new folks in my department at work - they hold great promise & I am happy to have then w/ me as we head to the busiest months of our sales year.
~~ We are looking forward to the holidays this year - they hold great promise.
Except for this cold, what a great week I had ^ .. ^
Bess has taught me that one's b'day should be celebrated all month. Well, truth be told, I am not as far along w/ that idea as she is. For me at this point in time & w/ the delightful, sweet assistance of SJ, I celebrated on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The day before, day of & day after are what I could muster this year.
Part of what has caused this cold to hang on is lack of sleep: we had gas leaks on my street & the 1st to be noticed was at P's house which is next door - we live in row houses on this part of the block. Then the Gas Works discovered some small problem w/ my connection. Thus, the same three nights I just mentioned were spent dealing w/some crew or another re the said gas leaks. Save for the cement that will need to be poured to cover part of the basement floor where they jack-hammered to get to the pipes, all is fixed & well. All of us together on the count of 3: 1,2,3 - knock wood.
We are training two new folks at work - the person we hired & who worked all summer left. She had a wonderful talent for displays & I learned from her. We wish her luck w/her schooling & next job.
Knitting news: grrr, am starting over for time no. 3 on the socks on two circs. On occasion, I start the 1st stitch on the next needle by incorrectly wrapping it around the needle & then end up w/that bad connection & lousy yarn "bridge" problem that can only be fixed (or "only" as far as I have learned so far) by frogging back to the site of the problem (did this & could not fix it) or totally ripping out & starting over. Am doing a bit of knitting on my V-neck sweater too. It's time for me to complete this & wear it, damn it.
Plus I want some of my WIPS to be done!
Behinditis - do you feel this phenomenon? I am frustrated by the amount of things & areas where I am behind. The emails I owe to pals, house work/cleaning, time w/SJ, time w/friends, the garden, my knitting, reading, exercise, house projects, organizing the yarn stash (want to have lots for the swap table at the Knitter's Review Retreat & some for an important teen in my life, M, who is knitting (& w/whom I hope to have more knitting time). Ah, that elusive, much sought after commodity: time.
The New York Sheep & Wool Festival, Rhinebeck for short, is around the corner. I will get to see Jen & work in the fabulous Spirit Trail Fiberworks booth (scope out her web site & check out the new Fiber club - her fibers & yarns are extraordinary!), Shelia, Purlewe/Anj & Sue & Jane, among others. And I believe that Amy Boogie is coming - has been ages since I saw her. Her stuff is always wonderful!
Hope you all are doing well.
Knitting Inspiration Alert
Lucky me: I spent a few hours on Saturday w/ the Fabulous Purlewe, aka Anj, Sue & Miz Lehnan, a most beautiful kitty-kat. Anj & Sue are wonderful friends, creative knitters & terrific women - when I spend time w/them, I laugh a lot, listen & talk a lot, knit a lot & always feel well cared for when in their company.
Anj is generally knitting a goodly number of items & these projects are varied, interesting & provide experiences w/ different yarns, textures, patterns & levels of difficulty. Not only does she inspire me to grow as a knitter - she inspires me to continue to branch out.
While she is knitting Way Cool & Beautiful items for herself & other friends/family members, Anj is also dreaming about the upcoming projects she wants to do & she makes lists/notes about them. One way I have kept track of my "Project Daydream List" is a folder filled w/ hard copies of the patterns. That works well if, d'oh, I have the pattern. If I don't have the instructions already, well then, it seems to go off the radar screen. I now have some ideas that I got from Anj & I will put these into practice over the next few months.
Many thanks A, S & L - you all are the best.
My knitting has been picked up again ^ .. ^
In spite of feeling bone tired (or because of it) & quite weary (ditto), I have been knitting more again. About this time of year as the KR Retreat approaches & as the holidays loom in the farther-away horizons, I began to feel some "panic" tho't balloons overhead: where did the past few months go? Why am I not doing more knitting? What about my items for my show & tell? All those Retreat-ees will have oodles & oodles of items & little ol' me, well, not many truth be told.
This isn't a pity party I'm having. It's just been the reality of many years of feeling like this.
So, why not embrace the pokey knitter inside me? Good question.
I think it's because I want more time to knit, I want more time for me, I want more completed items to show for the last few months. There are many UFOs - a sweater in the home stretch , two bags to be felted that are also in that home stretch, at least two scarves (yikes, I've lost count!) started, a lace shawl based on a pattern that dear Clara included in a Knitter's Review weeks back, a couple of socks.
Before the Retreat & Rhinebeck, I hope to finish a goodly number of these. Foremost on my mind is my New Beginnings project for the Retreat - I changed my original idea & have started again.
And speaking of Rhinebeck & the Retreat, I cannot wait to see you all!!!!!
Outside of knitting projects, I am cleaning the basement & rearranging it, weeding the garden in preparation for a new garden planting, watching "The Closer" on DVDs borrowed from the Library (what a great show!!) & hanging out w/ special pals.
Some tho'ts about the Year of the Golden Pig
Like the Queen often frequently offers Mr. Horoscope's sage advice. In that same vein, I offer up this excerpt from K's most recent emails.
Got an email from one of my qigong masters, Chunyi Lin, telling us that it is the year of the golden pig,
“Only once every six decades do we have the type of energy flow we have entered this year – the Year of the Golden Pig. This is known as a Golden Year because the energy flow is influenced by the most positive aspects of each of the 5 Elements. We will not experience such an energy flow again until the year 2067.
A Golden Year, such as this, is an exceptionally powerful time for development and growth in your professional life and your personal life. The energy flow we are in now through February 6th of 2008 offers great potential for advancement in your healing and energy practice.”
Thought you might enjoy that concept…..
Other than thinking about Golden Pigs, I have been house cleaning, knitting on my Regia sock (a toe up that I began in a Spring 2005 class at the Tangled Web & taught by the Beloved Divine One) & my bag-to-be-felted-later, spending time w/some special people, kitty sitting for three "old" clients, getting more sleep which has been desperately needed, walking, cooking for myself more, playing catch up w/some chores & tasks.
The Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival is a mere few weeks away & I am jones-ing to see some Knitter's Review Retreat pals. As per my usual I will be working w/ Jennifer, Shelia & Bess at the fabulous Jennifer's booth for Spirit Trail Fiberworks - please do come to see us.
